A Grain-Free Cranberry Treat Made with Love

These little grain-free dog treats are easy to make and can be shaped into anything your heart desires. I generally just roll this recipe into a ball for every day treats, but this Valentine’s Day, I'm using a silicone heart shaped mold to make Mercedes and Zsa-Zsa feel the love.

Ingredients

2 Free Range Eggs
1 and 1/2 Cups Almond Flour
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
3-4 Tablespoons of Coconut Flour
1/2 Cup Dried Cranberries
10 Mushpuppies Crushed * (Shop Mushpuppies here)

Optional Ingredients:
1/2 cup Apple Sauce

Recipe

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

  • Beat 2 eggs and set aside.

  • Combine your almond flour, coconut oil and dried cranberries together in a bowl.

  • Once combined, pour in the eggs and mix together with your hands. The dough will be very wet. Chef's Tip: If it is not wet enough to form a smooth ball, slowly add applesauce until the batter is smooth and pliable.

  • Begin adding in your coconut flour one tablespoon at a time and thoroughly mix. You want to achieve a consistency that is easy to roll and not super sticky. The dough should easily form a ball.

  • Rollout your dough and cut out the treats using bite sized cookie cutters. Hearts are perfect for Valentine’s Day. Tip: Sprinkle a little coconut flour on top of your dough to keep it from sticking to the cookie cutters.

  • Place your treats on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes or until crisp.

  • Makes approx. 20 treats. Let cool before giving to your pooch – Enjoy!

* I crush up my Mushpuppies when I make this treat so I'm not over feeding my fur babies. It's always important to remember that any treat is not replacement for your dog’s regular meal plan. Treats are meant to reward good behavior and do not contain all the nutrients your fur baby needs to stay healthy. Always check with your vet about any major changes to your dog’s diet.
