The Easiest Liver Cleanse I've Ever Found

Guarding the health of my liver in order to optimize the quality of my life is essential to keep my Hashimoto's disease in remission. However, this cleanse is great for anyone who needs an energy boost and provide better liver health. "Cleansing" the liver doesn't have to be forever, complicated or overwhelming. I give my liver a boost by starting with a quick, 24-hour liver cleanse. I've found that my body works best when I have a quick cleanse of my liver and then take special care of what I ingest on a daily basis after the cleanse. I prefer to do a natural cleanse because I know exactly what I'm putting into my body.

This is what I do:

In the seven days prior to this short cleanse, I incorporate the following foods into my diet: kale, cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, citrus fruits, asparagus, beets and celery.

I avoid processed foods, and eat free-range organic meats, refined carbohydrates and avoid gluten. This preparation will help facilitate the cleanse. I never want to "shock" my body with a cleanse or diet change of any kind because I go through food withdrawals that make me want to quit the good stuff I'm doing to help my health.

I prepare myself for the cleanse by using the following detox support drink every morning the week before my cleanse. It boosts my energy and helps you to detox and cleanse the liver. This recipe calls for apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and water. TIP: this drink can be prepared a few days in advance. Just shake the prepared drink to disperse all ingredients.

Apple and lemon juice with cinnamon

Ingredients

  • 8-12 oz. Water

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 Tbs. Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 2 Lemons juiced

  • Pinch of Cayenne pepper

Preparation

  • Boil a glass of water in a pot and then add the cinnamon stick

  • Lower the heat, cover the pot, and let the cinnamon boil for 3-5 minutes

  • Turn off the heat and let the liquid cool off.

  • Add to cooled liquid Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemon juice and Cayenne pepper.

  • Finally, add a few ice cubes, and drink it.

Then, during the week of my cleanse I drink this liver detox drink to support me during the detox:

Liver Detox Drink

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Cranberry Juice

  • 3 cups water

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp ginger

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 3 oranges juiced

  • 3 lemons

Directions:

  1. Dilute cranberry juice with a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part cranberry juice.

  2. Add 1/4 teaspoon each of nutmeg and ginger and a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon into a tea infuser and let steep in simmering water for 20 minutes.

  3. Allow to cool to room temperature.

  4. Add the juice of 3 oranges and 3 lemons and stir. If the mixture is too tart, sweeten with your favorite all-natural sweetener.

  5. Sip throughout the day.

I consume a minimum of 72 ounces of this mixture and 72 ounces of water. After one day of the cranberry juice blend, I reintroduce the foods listed above in preparation for the liver cleanse.

Cleansing and detoxing my liver and colon helps to clear pesticides, unnecessary medications, heavy metals I encounter in my daily life out of the system, resulting in a happy, healthy liver. I keep my liver healthy by doing a 24-hour liver cleanse every three months. I also avoid of processed foods and only eat the vegetables listed above along with legumes and whole grains. I can always re-introduce other foods into my diet once I'm detoxed.
